NALOXONE 2 HOUR CE PROGRAM

Maine Pharmacy Association is pleased to partner with the University of New England to sponsor an online 2 Hour Naloxone Continuing Education Program to all Maine pharmacists. This program meets the training requirement of the ME Board of Pharmacy for pharmacists to prescribe Naloxone.

Kaitlyn Bernard, PharmD, from the University of New England will guide you through her Powerpoint presentation.

After attending this program, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the risk factors of opioid abuse and overdose, as well as how to recognize and respond to an overdose
  2. Discuss pharmacists’ requirements under new regulation surrounding dispensing naloxone to the public, including how to identify individuals who are at risk for opioid overdose
  3. Explain formulation- specific information, and indications/ contra-indications for the use of naloxone
  4. Describe proper storage & administration techniques for the dispensed naloxone formulation
